€2.4bn expansion of Kildare Innovation Campus announced
Kildare Innovation Campus (KIC) in Ireland is set to receive €2.4 billion in investment for further development. The 184-acre site, previously home to Hewlett Packard, is expected to create 3,000 jobs if fully realized. KIC CEO Allan Shine claims the campus will be Europe's most advanced, carbon-neutral campus, using indigenous renewable power. The expanded campus is expected to generate €5bn in economic output. The campus is already home to companies like MGS Ireland, Mercury, Hewlett Packard Enterprises, Cully Automation, DXC Technology, and Nikon Precision Europe, employing over 1000 people. A purpose-built innovation hub is being developed as a dedicated landing space for high-potential deep tech scale-ups in Ireland and foreign direct investment. Planning permission was approved for the expansion in January, and all but one new building have been pre-let to global blue chip technology companies. Preparatory works are underway to develop the buildings and a cycle and pedestrian bridge linking Celbridge and Leixlip towns over the M4 motorway.
